Water Rates

Warren County Water District water customers are billed monthly for water use based on a system of rates and charges designed to recover the actual cost of bringing water to homes and businesses.

Your water bill is calculated based on three items:

  1. Minimum use charge
  2. Volume charge
  3. Applicable taxes

A minimum use charge is applied even if you use no water during the month because there are a number of costs associated with ensuring your access to service. These costs include system maintenance, meter reading, water testing and more. The minimum use charge is designed to cover these costs while also allowing a specified amount of water use. Minimum charges vary depending upon the meter size serving the property. For example:

Customer Type
Meter Size
Minimum Charge Per Month
Typical residential property
5/8 x 3/4-inch

$14.16
(includes 2,000 gallons per month)

Commercial
2-inch

$78.31
(includes 15,000 gallons per month)

Industrial
6-inch

$279.73
(includes 50,000 gallons per month)

A volume charge is applied when you use water over the amount included in the minimum use charge. The gallons shown in the schedule below are offset by volumes included in the minimum bill; volume rates are the same, regardless of meter size. They are as follows:

Volume
(above 2,000 gallons)
Price
Next 8,000 gallons

$4.91 per 1,000 gallons

Next 90,000 gallons

$4.24 per 1,000 gallons

Next 900,000 gallons

$3.79 per 1,000 gallons

Over 1,000,000 gallons

$3.45 per 1,000 gallons

Applicable taxes are added to your bill depending on the type of service provided. A utility tax of 3 percent is added to all customer bills in Warren County. Non-residential customers are also subject to a 6 percent state sales tax unless they submit a tax exemption form to Warren Water.
