WARREN COUNTY WATER DISTRICT SUPPORTS EDUCATION
VOYLES NAMED SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT
The Warren County Water District continues to promote education in the water supply field and as a part of its overall community involvement efforts by offering a scholarship each year. Jordan Voyles from Warren East High School was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Western Kentucky University for the 2021-2022 academic year.
“Jordan’s qualities of a hard working student with a determination to succeed elevated her as the top candidate,” said WCWD General Manager John Dix. “As an honor roll student, Jordan worked a part-time job and volunteered for the Barren County Special Olympics for the past five years. As a varsity cheerleader she also balanced various leadership roles within her school and participated in numerous extracurricular activities. We are excited to offer assistance as she furthers her higher education endeavors with a degree in exercise science. This scholarship is another way we can serve our community and our customers.”
In an effort to foster success of future water and sewer utility professionals, the scholarship is offered to assist a Warren County high school senior pursuing further education in a related field. The scholarship is renewable for four years, as long as requirements are maintained.
For application and eligibility details, students should contact their high school guidance counselor or visit www.warrenwater.com.

WARREN WATER COMMENDS WATER PROFESSIONALS DURING DRINKING WATER WEEK
(Bowling Green, KY)- Warren Water commends the hardworking men and women who help ensure that tap water is “There When You Need It” during Drinking Water Week held May 2-8.
Warren Water, American Water Works Association and water utilities nationwide will observe Drinking Water Week by recognizing the vital role tap water plays in daily life, the infrastructure that is required to carry it to and from homes and businesses, and the important work of water professionals “behind the scenes”.
Reliable water service used for hygiene, hydration and cooking is critical to our health and safety throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Health organizations recommend that normal hygienic practices, including handwashing for 20 seconds, play an important role in slowing the spread of germs.
“Drinking Water Week provides an opportunity to recognize our most valuable resource and the team who delivers quality on tap 24/7. We can’t minimize the importance of a healthy water supply in our daily lives,” said John Dix, WCWD General Manager. “During these difficult times, we continually reflect on the heroic work of all who place themselves in harm’s way to keep us healthy and safe. Warren Water encourages everyone to be actively aware of how they personally connect with water.”
Drinking Water Week 2021 Campaign, which is hosted by the American Water Works Association (AWWA), is a national advocacy event designed to focus on issues associated with drinking water, including making sure that individuals have fresh, safe tap water and knowledge of how valuable the resource is in their daily lives. Tap water plays a critical role in the success of society, from meeting basic public health needs by providing safe drinking water and adequate sanitation, to promoting dental health and supporting industrial, agricultural, medical, and recreational activities.
“We are proud of our team at Warren Water who work around the clock to bring safe, reliable water to residences and businesses, testing the water 130,000 times a month to ensure quality,” Dix added, “This week gives us the opportunity to recognize their commitment to customers, quality service and public health.”

Warren Water Asks the Community to Imagine A Day Without Water
In recognition of Imagine a Day Without Water, Warren Water is joining the Value of Water Coalition and asking our community to consider the impact of living without quality tap water, our most precious resource.
The Value of Water Coalition is dedicated to educating and inspiring the nation on how water is essential and invaluable and therefore, needs investment. The Kentucky Water Resources Board was created during the 2016 Session of the Kentucky General Assembly. The board was formed to provide state regulators with recommendations on water use efficiency, as well as develop a water conservation strategy for the state’s agricultural sector.
Kentucky Rural Water Association Executive Director Gary Larimore shared, “It is critical and more evident with the pandemic that our water resources continue to be a focus across the state. Kentucky Rural Water Association partners with water and wastewater utilities across the state to help them protect and manage this valuable resource. We continue to make great strides.”
“Warren Water is honored to join the Value of Water Coalition and Kentucky’s Water Resources Board and hundreds of other organizations around the country who are participating in the sixth annual Imagine a Day Without Water. A day without water would be a public health and safety crisis. The fight against COVID-19 would seem impossible. It means no water to wash your hands, shower or flush the toilet, no water to drink or cook with, and no water to do laundry or dishes. A single nationwide day without water service would make it impossible for doctors, firefighters, and farmers to serve our communities.,” stated John Dix, WCWD general manager. “It’s great to see continued proactive steps for the future of water infrastructure at both the state and federal level.”
As the community considers the impact of living without water, we invite everyone to participate in our online social media push with messaging to share with family and friends. For participants who like, share and comment on our posts between October 21 and October 22 your name will be entered in a drawing to win a pizza and pizza cutter (three winners will be drawn). Why pizza? Food for thought, it takes 42 gallons of water to make one slice of pizza plus everyone loves pizza.
